I Love Librarians
I had a great time on Saturday at Story Town, sponsored by the Tucson Pima County Library. Kids came to read a book to me and I got to be pals with another librarian. They're the best!

Helping Homeless Pets
I wish all dogs had a nice warm home where they could cuddle up with their person. Sadly, there are lots of persons and dogs who don't have a home. They live on the streets or in shelters. There's no money for extra things like a new collar or leash, or a warm coat for frosty nights. Mom and I found some dog supplies around the house that we don't need any more--like my winter snow jacket and old leashes. We sent them off to a group that will give them to people who need them. Maybe you have some dog things (or cat things) that could be donated. Here's a link to a group that helps pets of the homeless:

Yummy Dog Treats
Pssst! Here's Mom's secret recipe for:
HONEY BISCUITS
1 ½ tsp. dry yeast (or one package) dissolved in
¼ cup lukewarm water
1 egg
¾ cup low sodium chicken broth
¼ cup honey
3-4 cups whole wheat flour
(just until it’s not too sticky to knead)
1 cup cracked wheat
oven @ 325
mix ingredients
knead 5 min.
roll out in two rectangles about ¼ inch thick
cut in strips, squares or skinny ropes
put biscuits on 2 lightly greased cookie sheets
let rise 20 min.
bake for 45 min.
let stand uncovered so they get crunchy
makes about 100-125 biscuits!

Summer Fun
Summer is supposed to be over now, but we're back in Arizona and it's hot, hot, hot. This could be me looking out of the blazing sun instead of a sunflower. This was taken in June at the Fire Hydrant 5 fundraiser for Larimer Humane Society in Fort Collins, Colorado. I'm one of their 'graduates' so we support LHS whenever we can. If you're thinking about getting a dog, check out local shelters. Some furry friend is waiting for someone like you to bring them to their forever homes. Mom says she hit the jackpot when she met me at Larimer Humane, but I say I'm the lucky one. That goofy smile on my face is proof!

Double Digits
Happy Birthday to me!
I don’t know why humans get so stressed about what will happen in their lives. Dogs live in the moment and each day is a brand new gift. Some days are quiet with lots of naps. Some days bring a visit from friends or a walk in the park or even a car trip. Today turned out to be pretty special. It’s my tenth birthday, which is sort of like being 60 in people years but without the worry of getting older. We got to go to Arfy’s Mercantile for birthday pupcakes. Yum! Arfy’s is the best store in Fort Collins, Colorado. Great smells, fun toys and always a liver treat for the canine visitors. So you can see why I don’t mind having another birthday. As for tomorrow, who knows what fun adventure awaits?
